Hootenanny! Backyard Pickin' with a Mission!
ABOUT THE EVENT
Our events are created to have fun - It's like singing in church, ain't no one passing judgement!
Our approach is based on comments from folks about how they get intimidated in some specialized jams. Some players say they want to work on instrumentation, but don't want to be put on the spot. And finally, folks have told me they'd like some variety--"I just don't know enough bluegrass or old-time tunes." These "Hoots" offer the opportunity to improve our skills and singing in a relaxed, more forgiving and experimental environment. Sometimes we do more talking than playing, but that's how new friends are made! Ask about our ongoing Irish Jams!

About Hootenanny
"Hootenanny" originated in Northern Baltimore County in 2017 as a way to bring players together in a relaxed environment. We started playing in venues in New Freedom and then expanded to a yearly outdoor venue and playing at various homes. We are aimed at enjoying the traditions of folk, Americana, Bluegrass and Old Time music while also raising money for area causes. The Hootenanny Facebook page can be found at @herefordhoot and a monthly newsletter can be found at herefordmusicnews.com.
